I would guess it is all a matter of existing inventory.

Some are currently sold with the new fuel gauge batteries. ex the new power station.
Others will follow as inventories are replenished with new stock.

I'll be more curious to know if there is any upgrade program or user self-serve option to replace the fuel gauge on our gen 1 batteries.

Based on videos I've seen of the inside of the batteries I agree with szwoopp. The electronics are well potted with epoxy so not likely they would replaceable.

Yeah, it would at minimum take opening the battery and re-soldering some stuff, and that's assuming you can replace the board. There's no way Ego is going to go for that, especially if the battery is still under warranty. And they definitely wouldn't want the liability involved if someone gets zapped by that kind of current if they don't know what they're doing.
