Where can I find the Carbon Fiber Straight Shaft Trimmer

I'm looking to buy the Carbon Fiber Trimmer. I really would prefer getting a straight shaft and not have the hinge like you get if you buy it at home depot. Does anyone know where I can purchase one without that hinge? Thanks

I have the 15" non-carbon fiber trimmer with the hinge and to be honest, once you assemble that hinge you never even give it another moment's thought. It looks like it goes together in a different way than mine did, but can't imagine that will matter in use.
To your question, looks like a non-hinge model isn't available.

Someone mentioned it in a review/video, but I am not sure that they are correct.  They may have just assumed as it happened with a previous model.  So for now it is the hinge (agree with mike, once it together it is a non issue - I have the Carbon fiber model) or wait and see if a solid shaft does come out.

The straight shaft is meantioned in the manual. I’d prefer that because it’s solid so a little less vibration. Also the ha dale can be adjusted as far down as I like.

You are 100% correct.  It is right on the cover of the manual.  I guess it is just a matter of waiting (?a few weeks?) for it to be available.

I have the hinged carbon fiber trimmer and I previously owned the hinged 15-inch trimmer and I can say it bolts together so tightly that there's no vibration. It's solid as a rock.

Hopefully someone from Ego can chime in with when the straight shaft will be available.

The straight shaft version of this trimmer will be available this spring. We do not have a specific date as of right now, but will be sure to post as soon as we do.
The video review where the straight shaft carbon model was mentioned was Workshop Addict's carbon trimmer review. Someone in the Youtube comments posted some links for buying the straight shaft version:

(bare tool)
(battery & charger)

In the checkout cart it says -

"You will be contacted via email with a shipping quote."

"Minimum shipping charge: Shipping costs to Canada start at $15.00 USD. Shipping costs to all other countries starts at $26.00 USD."

Can EGO provide any info. as to whether the straight shaft version of the carbon trimmer is going to be made available in Canada?

Home Depot Canada (no surprise) currently only has the split-shaft version and my go to alternative, Union Wheel out of Alberta (ships cross-country) doesn't seem to have any of the carbon trimmers available at the moment.
Union Wheel is now listing the carbon fibre trimmer bare tool and battery kits but it doesn't say which shaft version it is. I'll be contacting them to try and find out, and if a straight shaft version will be coming if it's just the split shaft version now available.
So I contacted Union Wheel about the straight shaft model and they got back to me via an e-mail:

They said "I can only get the bent shaft right now as a bare tool, it does come as a kit with the 5Ah battery".

(I'm assuming he meant the straight shaft model regarding the 5ah comment.)

I was also given a quote of $34 CDN shipping for the split shaft bare tool (Alberta to Ontario).
Can we have an update response on when the straight shaft trimmer will be released and where (considering I already found 1 U.S. web source claiming they have it available)?

Will it be available/available soon at Home Depot (USA)?

I have no idea when the carbon fiber straight shaft models will be released -- and it's something we've been wondering too. It seems odd to me that EGO's been quiet on a national release for this model yet I've had the ST1524 kits in stock for nearly a month. But still no word on when the ST1520 [bare tool] will be available. I will say it really seems like Canada does not get anywhere near the number of models available here in the US -- most of our customers have stuff delivered to a US address and drive it across the border or come visit us.

Hi Nate.

Thanks for shedding some light on this, but could you clarify/confirm whether the carbon straight shaft trimmer (bare tool, ST1520) is available with you guys or not right now?

You seem to be saying it isn't but your website lists it as in stock and when I recently inquired about a shipping quote to Canada on the bare tool (ST1520) they mentioned (generally I guess) that orders "would ship in 1-3 business days" after a shipping method was chosen but they didn't mention that it wasn't in stock right now anyway.

Funny you should ask...they just came in today. After filling backorders, I have 1 left until the next shipment. Until it's an established product (like the LB5302, ST1502F, etc.), I have no idea when shipments are coming in until they show up.

I believe Victor would have quoted you and he knew they came in today. We give a general lead time in case the order is processed at 4PM, the next day is a postal holiday, and then the third day it gets picked up, but the majority of orders are shipped within 1 business day.
Awesome, thank you!
FYI to anyone from Canada wondering on shipping from RCPW, this was the quote I was given for an address in southwestern Ontario (only quote I got but I also confirmed it was the cheapest quote) -

USPS Priority Mail International, this method is insurable, has tracking information, and typically spends 6-10 business days in transit time. This method will cost 60.00 USD, to use this method please enter code: VTPR605718CA into the special instructions field when checking out.
Can't blame them on the high shipping fee I guess but since it's $169 USD, working out to about $216 CDN + $60 USD for shipping vs $218 CDN at Home Depot Canada (for the split shaft version), I can't really justify getting it.

(Though they seem to be in Ohio if driving there is an option for you.)

This is where it would be great if EGO could clarify the near future status of the Carbon straight-shaft model in Canada and/or at Home Depot in the U.S..
