I'm not sure if I would use the word "required;" that's up to you, but when I registered my mower I was asked if the mower was part of "a kit" and then prompted to also enter the serial numbers from the battery and charger as well (they are easy to locate on the devices).
If EGO is like most companies with which I've used warranties, you are not required to register within any particular time frame, but I would need to defer to their relevant department for that particular information.

Hi Paul, as Eric said, we don't require the battery and charger serial numbers but we would like them.  It helps us keep track of all of your tools so that we can better support your purchase for the 3 years on batteries & chargers and the 5 years on the tools.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Registration.

I have purchased and registered the LM2000-S model mower.  Do I need to register the battery and charger that came with it in the box as separate registrations, or are they included in the mower registration?  Thanks!

I registered all items that had a serial number.
