What do the lights on the mower mean?

The mower is equipped with a power indicator to indicate the charge capacity status of the battery pack and the working status of the mower.

  • The power indicator will illuminate when the blade is rotating or when the LED work lights are turned on.
  • The green light indicates that the battery has at least 15% of its charge capacity remaining.
  • The red light indicates that the battery pack is nearly depleted and needs to be charged.
  • The blinking red light indicates that the battery pack is depleted completely. In this situation, the circuit will shut off the mower to protect the battery pack from over discharging.
Here is a video that explains the lights on the EGO POwer+ Mower.

Purchased 21" ego power mower at homedepot 2 months ago. Used only 3 times. Now battery isn't charging. Battery has blinking green light. 25% red light is blinking on charger. What should I do?

Yeoup, sorry to see you are having difficulty with your battery. The flashing green light on the battery is not good. Fortunately you are within Home Depot's 90 day return window so you could return mower, battery and charger and exchange it for a new one.
If that's not an option, give EGO customer service a call. They can definitely help you.
Call early in the day to avoid hold times.
They can be reached at 1-855-EGO-5656 (1-855-346-5656) from 8:30AM - 8:00PM EST (Monday - Friday) & 10:00AM - 6:00PM EST (Saturday & Sunday).

The Following is from: "Understanding and using EGO Power+ Batteries" at this link: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=93563
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Battery Status Indicator

The Pushbutton / LED indicator on one end of the battery is used to determine battery status. Depressing it momentarily activates the display:

Green - OK, 15% more more charge
Flashing Green - Battery has not been used for about 30 days and is in the process of discharging to storage level (30%)
Red - Charge level is low, prepare to stop using this battery
Flashing Red - Charge level is very low, stop using and recharge
Orange - Battery is overheated (70C), allow it to cool
Flashing Orange - Battery has been overloaded, allow to cool and reduce load

Has anyone found an explanation for the flashing yellow light. My blower starts up fine, the batteries are both fully charged, and then the yellow light flashes multiple times and it shuts down. Super frustrating, especially since all of the "battery status indicator" explanations like the one above don't even mention a yellow light. Any ideas?

We are having the same problem, brand new battery from EGO. I put the battery in, try to start the mower ( completely cold, not used yet, flashing yellow light for about 5 seconds then flashing green. Just a grunt, will not start

You have a faulty safety relay in your handle, I just got mine back from EGO in Atlanta, they replaced a safety relay. Now it works fine.
Side note, it worked fine before we folded the handle for stand up storage

Can anyone explain these light sequences:
-- Battery LED blinks green constantly.
-- While on charger, Battery LED blinks red-yellow-green, seems to charge, but I do not trust battery and fear leaving it on the charger for long.

No worries, it will stop the cycle when the battery is charged

Hi John,  the red, orange, green alternating colors while the battery is charging is normal. No worries there. It's clearly explained in the manual.

Battery constantly blinking green is a problem. Give EGO cs a call and they will fix you up.

Leah, you might have better luck asking your question on a Husq forum.

Trash mower.  Worked 3 times over 6 months and now does not start.  Battery is good and operates a weed wacker, $600 mower refuses to start.  And yes I know the start sequence.

Waste of money

You know it has a five-year warranty, right?

Rob, have you only used it 3 times over the 6 months or other times it was difficult to start, or something else? If you've had trouble since the beginning you had 90 days from purchase to return it to HD (if that's where you bought it) for refund or exchange no questions asked. Now, as Ken says, you are still within the very generous 5 year warranty.
Having said all that, the handlebars are fully extended and the clamps are fully engaged?
If everything is as it should be, give EGO customer service a call. They will take care of you. Please ensure your mower is registered and you have a copy of your receipt already uploaded or handy when you call.

It does seem odd to use a mower only three times in six months.

Sounds like you have a safety relay issue. It should be under warranty, take it to Home Depot to return it to Atlanta for diagnosis and repair. Not starting has been a recent trend. They recently replaced my safety relay in the handles.
