I have to carry my lawn mower up several stairs to the 2nd level of my backyard. How much does the mower weigh without the battery in?

According to the specs on Home Depot, the 20" weighs 56.3 lbs and the 21" is 60.5 lbs.
Maybe one for each level? ;)

Pat, I was faced with a similar concern, I have 2 steps to get my mower out of the basement.  I don't know the actual weight of the mowers but Home Depot lists the "product weight" as 56 pounds for the 20 inch and 69.5 pounds for the 21 inch.  These are non-selfpropelled with the plastic decks.  My guess is that the product weight would be the shipping weight which includes the box and packing.   The 5 ah battery is listed at 3.8 pounds, again product weight.

I chose the 20 inch for that reason.   A common complaint is the handle on the front of the mower between the front two wheels.  It does not allow you to get as close to an edge with blade.  I don't care, that is what line trimmers are for.   I positively love that handle.  Using the front handle I flip the mower onto the back wheels and carefully raise and lower it on the steps using the back wheels on the steps, like you would with wheeled luggage.  It is very easy to do.  With the main handle easily folding out of the way, no oil or gas to worry about spilling out,  I have found this mower to be the easiest mower ever to handle when cleaning and storing.  I have a bad back and knees, so that weight was an issue for me.  I am very pleased with my 20 inch.  I hope this helps.

I think the discrepancy between Mike's figures and mine, is that Mike used the 21 inch without a battery or charger, where my figures are for the kit models with the battery and charger.  Therefore Mike's 21 inch weight is closer to the truth.   Unfortunately Home Depot list both the 20 inch mower alone and the 20 inch kit as 56.3 pounds.  So I am not sure which is true.  If they are indeed only 4 pounds different, I don't think that is enough to worry about.  Thirteen pounds did concern me at the time.

To further this, the rear wheels on the 20" are much larger in diameter than those on the 21" mower.  This should make wheeling it up and down stairs a bit easier as well.

I never realized that.  Good observation, Blue.

Pat, upon re-reading your question, I would like to emphasis that my enthusiasm for this mower is based on the fact that I have to take it up and down two steps, not two flights of stairs which could result in many steps.

why in the world wouldn't Ego publish the weight with battery. I mean that's just ludicrous to not reveal it. Is it a secret??????????????

Because the tools run with 5 different batteries
It is easily found
What tool and battery combo would you like to know the weight of ?

Ego publishes manuals for all tools and batteries, and includes the weight specs. Look them up, then add them up. Not ludicrously hard to do. ;-)
