Kinda surprised I couldn't find the length on the EGO site.  Amazon's web page says it is 59.6" long.  I don't really like the term "folded".  The shaft is basically in two parts so the shipping box is shorter.  Once clamped together, I would only take it apart in case I needed to return it, or ship it somewhere.  I didn't measure the two halves when I did the "some assembly required", but 30" would be a good guess on the length of either half.  Hope that helps.

an hour or so later... I just walked by the trimmer after mowing and thought I'd measure it.  The top half is 37" long, the bottom half is 35" long.  That's not too close to 59 inches, is it?

Official Response
Sorry for the delay in our response.  George, as Steve mentioned, this string trimmer isn't meant to be folded.  Once assembled, its full length is about 6 feet long (72 inches).  It comes in two pieces for shipping purposes but isn't meant to be "folded" after you assemble it.
