I was just gifted an Ego mower and just saw the warranty is only valid for the purchaser.  Does this mean my brand new mower is not covered now?

Good question, but I think a gift receipt would solve the problem.  I don't know many people who do not keep the original receipt or get a gift receipt.  Might want to ask the person who was so kind to gift it to you.

But I think EGO should give the definite answer.

I can get the actual receipt but it was not purchased under my name (amazon.com order).

From my point of view, that would suffice as proof of purchase, but the problem is that it doesn't prove that you are the original owner  :(.  With all of the scammers in the world who buy stuff off of other people and try to get warranty coverage, it really makes it difficult for companies.

I just don't know.

Perhaps having the original purchaser register the product under your name instead of theirs would work? Before doing that I would contact Ego and ask, just in case the process can't be undone if not done correctly the first time.

I've never heard of a company refusing to honor the warranty for a product given as a gift.

Just noticing that some of you have strange pictures for your profile picture.    Blue Angel, you should have won something by now with all your points.  Will be interesting to see what EGO says about the asked questions.

Sharon, I sort of chose my avatar because I think of David, Blue and Myself as the 3 stooges.  Maybe I should have chosen Larry, Blue would be Curly and David Moe.

wow, you hit that one on the head.  That and phone free zones are like anti-millennial systems.

I'm an editor for a major U.S. chain of newspapers. I edited a story awhile back about how few cars with manual transmissions are stolen because thieves don't know how to drive them.

Of course, it's different in Europe, where stick shifts are still relatively popular.

Official Response
Hi Steven, you would be covered by our warranty.  It's best to just call and register over the phone when you are ready.  1-855-346-5656.  We do honor gifts as valid ownership.  You have nothing to worry about!
