Trimmer slings debris all over me while cutting

I am coming from a Stihl straight shaft that I 100% loved. I bought a ego straight shaft hoping to love equally as much. The ego is blowing debris ALL over me while cutting. The debris is hurting my face while cutting. Actually, I can't even keep my eyes open with safety glasses on. It's horrible and I am HATING myself for gifting my Stihl to my dad because his off brand weed eater broke. Possibly, it's because I am left handed. However, that seems rediculous.

I haven't had that problem, but I'm right handed (if in fact that makes a difference). I like the trimmer.

I can see where the shroud design would affect the throw of the cut, both in direction and velocity, especially when comparing one brand versus another.  Possibly to even affect RH and LH use differently since the current shroud design is asymmetrical.  If you look at it closely, there is roughly 50% more arc coverage if you hold this as a RH tool as opposed to LH.  This is a fundamental design flaw where overall utility must be considered.  Ego also doesn't make locations of trigger safety's/permissives for ambidextrous utility.  Another Ego ergo design flaw that should seriously be improved on as these are indeed safety features.

Kelly! I had this problem and had to change the string to a lower grade. This solved the problem.
