Today a senior customer came in with a newly purchased 15" Rapid Reload String Trimmer. He had asked Home Depot to assemble the product. (We did so incorrectly) The customer was unable to load the Rapid Wind Head as we had given him incorrect explanation on how to do it and sold him the Bump Head winder. (The associate told him there was no Ego replacement string and he had to modify his rapid reload head to the old style to continue using it) The man was standing in the return line in utter frustration to bring back everything. He was actually in tears trying to explain his frustration.

I intervened, got him a chair to sit in, took his unit apart and put it together correctly. I showed him how the rapid reload works, gave him 250 feet of line for his headache and made sure he could work the unit by himself.

Doing so saved a $600 sale with all the accessories he bought.

PLEASE, EGO. SPEND THE MONEY AND PRODUCE INSTRUCTION VIDEOS FOR OUR STAFF. WE WANT TO EXCEL AT SALES AND SERVICE OF YOUR PRODUCT BUT CAN NOT DO IT WITHOUT YOUR HELP.

Your competition puts out training videos on new products, their uses, pitfalls to watch out for, benefits of features and how to assemble them, usage, etc. They include how products stack up against the competition. They win with more sales. You win with more sales. The consumer wins by getting the right product for the task.

PLEASE ALLOCATE THE MONEY. GET WITH OUR CORPORATE OFFICE AND MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

Our Tool rental folks have the ability to impact your sales. They need training.

Official Response
We appreciate all of you taking the time to write to us about your training and product knowledge concerns regarding the Home Depot's employees. As Beth has stated, and we have echoed, this is something we're actively working on. Moreover, both EGO and Home Depot are always open to feedback and suggestions for improvement.

@TheTruth we appreciate your thoughts on the matter, but repeatedly posting nearly identical comments is not necessary or helpful. Moreover, comments containing profanity will be edited or deleted.

We feel that there's been enough discussion on this matter for now and are closing this conversation. Thank you again for all of your input and effort everyone!
