The ecological footprint made to build an ego mower, 7.5 amp battery and rapid charger

Scratching sentiment, convenience, and the overall coolness of a mower that runs like the little cars on a racetrack, is there a published, peer-reviewed article that analyzes comparitavely the environmental impact over time of building and running for x hours an Ego mower, charger and battery vs. a similarly equipped/capable gasoline machine/fuel/oil/filters/etc.? And when RIP, how their impacts on the environment compare when decommissioning/recycling, disposing, assuming both are completely dead and cannot be rebuilt. Thanks for reading!!!

There is a video in this thread that shows that recharging the battery took about 2 cents of electricity.  It does not address the over all environmental impact but it will give you a warm and fuzzy on the power usage.

John, there's no life cycle study that I've seen. About the only relevant information I could provide would be to consider the studies done between electric and gas cars, most of which are inconclusive as they can be argued either way depending who's making the arguments.

Based on that, I would think the Ego mower would fare quite well given how filthy the average gas mower is while running. With crude technology and absolutely zero pollution controls, small engines pollute far more than cars do, based on the admittedly small amount of reading I've done.

John, here’s a similar thread on this that might offer some insight: https://community.egopowerplus.com/ego/topics/impact_on_the_environment

Thanks Amber, I knew I'd seen that info somewhere before!

There you have it... 40 cars or one lawnmower, same pollution. Wow!
