Want to purchase a new string trimmer. I have some really tough country type weeds. Small home / farm combo. Which would trimmer head hold up better to those type weeds - the new PowerLoad OR Rapid Reload trimmer head? Thinking durability.

All of the above.

Original 15" trimmer. Similar to rapid reload and power feed

Power head. Way more power than you could use

I would get the power head

Did you go with the Powerhead and are you happy with it? I just bought the rapid reload and I'm wondering if I should have spent the extra $40 on the Powerhead. How durable is it? The Rapid Reload does not release the string when I tap it on the ground.

I've found the bump feed to work quite well. You need to have the speed of the motor fairly high because it's using centrifugal force to feed the string. You also have to bump the head fairly firmly.

If that still doesn't work, you might want to check to see if the string is bound up or wound too tightly.

I'll try that, thanks Ken.

I'll also add that sometimes I bump a couple of times. The first bump does extend the string, but the second dispenses it even more to where I can hear the string being cut to length by the blade on the guard, so I know for sure I have the full length of string I need.
