I received my online order for my 12 inch string trimmer today and had to return it. The unit is pretty long especially for a short person like me 5'4. I did not see anyway to adjust the length so I can feel comfortable moving it around. I wish it had that option and that would be a space saver as well. I ended up buying another from black & decker. I'm a bit disappointed since I have the lawnmower and blower. I was hoping to keep all my hardware the same.

I felt a little odd using the Ego 12" trimmer when I first got it as well.

I was used to using a much smaller Toro corded model, similar to this:

It was pretty short and had a double handle design that allowed it to be easily held upside down for edging.

With the Ego I had to edge with the tool on it's side, which took a long time to get used to. Even regular trimming was a very different experience, though I eventually got used to it.

Did you try adjusting the handle to different positions? If you did try adjusting the handle forward and the tool was still too long for you to use comfortably, I guess there's nothing more you can do.
