string continually feeds out of my 15" sting trimmer

I upgraded from the 12" to 15" string trimmer about 2 months ago. I just reloaded the spool as i have done numerous times and now the line seems to be continually feeding out. All i have done is start it up in mid air and as the head spins it just releases more string, until the point it gets caught up around the spinning head. Any ideas what the problem could be?

Check to make sure the "button" isn't stuck in. Also the spring isn't broke or fell out.

I often clean and lubricate the unit with spray Teflon or Silicone spray.  It helps keep the button free flowing on tap.

"Free flowing on tap" sounds more like post-lawn care pleasure than pre-lawn care maintenance.

Unless you need a few sips to loosen up before tackling the job, that is. ;-)

Yeah, this weekend was definitely "free flowing on tap".  No binding there.

Andrew, have you tried disassembling it and putting it back together to see if it corrects the issue?

Also as JAS mensioned, there's a spring underneath the bobbin that keeps it engaged to the head. If that spring is broken or missing the bobbin will not lock in place and will freewheel.
