Just had a chat with someone at HomeDepot.ca and although it shows when you search for it, the page returns an error 404. The chat agent told me "This item has been removed from the website because it is discontinued unfortunately."

The link that shows in the search results was:
https://www.homedepot.ca/en/home/p.56v-li-ion-21-inch-lawnmower-kit.1000850647.html?autoSuggest=pip

I had checked it two days ago to find out what the closest store was that had stock and checked again yesterday to find it was now at a store closer to me but checking it today yielded the error 404 and the subsequent chat.

So, does this mean Home Depot Canada is no longer carrying this product?

Can anyone at EGO comment on what the problem could be?

There's a response in this thread directly below this one: https://community.egopowerplus.com/ego/topics/when-will-it-be-available-in-canada

Thanks Ken. I hope it is just a temporary problem with inventory and that HomeDepot.ca isn't dropping the product before it hits the shelves. I think I'll take my chances and venture by one of the stores that showed stock while the link was active.

Just noticed the link I posted earlier was the wrong one. Here is the correct link (which still returns an error 404):

Ego has been saying consistently that the snow blower would be available in Canada sometime in October. I would be shocked if HD decided not to carry it.

I understand and hope this is the case but the folks at Home Depot are sending mixed messages by removing it from their website while making comments such as "However, this item has been removed from the website because we are discontinued. " (direct quote from an online chat).

Hopefully someone at HomeDepot.ca simply posted the product info before they were ready and not because they've decided not to carry it.

Home Depot's staff don't inspire much confidence... they rarely know what's going on and they are hardly ever technical people who can understand more than very basic questions about a product. I have run into some excellent people working at HD, but they are rare.

Case in point, more often than not I end up telling them how a product works when they approach me asking if need help. I've demonstrated the fold up storage mode of the Ego mower to two people working in the outdoor power equipment area. They were both really impressed with the mower after that! :-/

To your point Blue, most HD people I have interacted with know very little about their products.  Here is why I think this might be the case, I ran into a "nice gentleman" looking for a new cordless string trimmer.  So of course, I told him about my experience with my EGO 15" trimmer, and he ended up buying the same model - EGO, where is my commission check for this sale?

Anyways, after talking to him a while longer, he informed that he used to work for HD, but now working at Lowe's instead.  Why he left HD was due to several reasons - the most important for him was compensation.  Lowe's apparently pay better than HD and furthermore, they invest in more training with their employees.  Now this is a "testimony" from one person, so I don't know if this is true across all HD.

But in my personal experience, I always get more "help" at Lowe's than HD.  I find that I have to go out of my way to "track down" an HD employee for any help, most of the time.  So there you have it, take it or leave it.

I can't say I disagree with any of that. Seems to make sense.

I find no matter which store I'm in, I'm always being asked if I need help when I don't need it, and as soon as I do they're nowhere to be found! :-)

Ha ... so true.  And now, they have these young kids coming up to you "pretending" to help you, but all they want to do is "sell" you on their kitchen / bathroom upgrades.  All the big ticket items they are trying to push on everyone.

Give it a week or two. They're shipping to stores from Vaughan (Oct 3, 2016). If you live in Southwestern Ontario they're instore now. See my post above as I bought one from Cambridge, ON on Oct 6. They were sitting on the floor with display next to all the other gas snow blowers.

Here's the shipping label.

With HD Canada, inventory may not reflect stock. They count what has been shipped to store, not received.

A tip given to me was to call and ask to talk to the seasonal manager. Give them the SKU 1001012538 and ask if it has been received.

Once again, you are lucky that your local HD has one on display. None of my local HD has it available, to test it out.

Re the "help" you get at HD and others..
My favorite is when you ask for help and then start reading the package to you.
Yes, I can read.  I asked if you knew anything about the product.

Hi Jennifer. I'm wondering what is going on with Home Depot Canada? I just checked and the snow blower is still not showing on the website and when I called my local store they stated that they don't even have them in the storage facility and so are not sure if they are even getting them! I really want to get one of these snow blowers but HOW?

Hi Naomi, let me look into this and I'll get back to you when I know more. I thought they would have all been available for sale online by now. I'm sorry for the delay.

I just looked at the homedepot.ca and found the snow blower with no problem. I can see stock availability for various stores, but I don't see an option to order it online.

Ok, so now I can see he snowblower online but it says "unavailable in your area" and there is no spot to order online. Sigh.

Just got off Chat with homedepot.ca and the rep said that they are only for sale in store only and that maybe Ego is not selling the snow blower in Western Canada but only Eastern Canada. Is this the case Jennifer?

Naomi, where are you located and which HD store number is your local store? This might help Jennifer find out what's going on.

Why has the price of the Ego snow blower (2x5Ah) on homedepot CANADA 100$ more now.  It was 797$ and now 897$????

I'm doing this I think. It's the rear axle off of a salvaged 20" mower. Wish I had a self propel axle. But ego doesn't like to sell us parts :(

Notice the ego mower motor mounted in the bottom right corner of the picture. So many things to build. So few available parts... sad sad sad

I could use bigger wheels when pushing/pulling through deeper snow when i have to being it to the sidewalk or do the neighbors.

So much easier to push now. The wheels are the rears off of a 20" mower.

Plus let's be honest. It looks sweeto too.
