I need an opinion. The Sumac shrub I will be tackling is About 10' high, probably 30' around. Per fire regulations I need to take it down to 4-5'. I have 3 of 'em to do.

What would be the best tool for the job? The branches are 1-3" in diameter. Woody and tough from the looks of it. Hedge trimmer and pole saw?

I have 2 batteries and could use a 3rd.

Thanks everybody!

If you're cutting it down to 5 feet, then the pole saw might be hard to use; and you could probably get away with the 14" chainsaw.  And it would be a different story if you need to reach over or into the middle from the edges, in which case the pole saw would be the right tool.

A picture might help visualize which tool is the right one for this job.

Beth, do you already own a power head?
