I ordered a hedge trimmer and hand held blower from home depot.  When the boxes arrived at my home they were a hot mess.  The hedge trimmer box was ripped at the flaps for opening, scuffed and not sealed (I can't recall if my other products were factory sealed or not but this box had clearly been previously opened).  The blower box is bulging as if someone couldn't figure out how to get it back in the box and just shoved it in, and it is completely covered in clear packing tape.  It appears these were returned items shipped as new.  I have not opened the boxes to see if the items are in good shape.  While I am returning them to home depot, I am disappointed in this and wondered if anyone else had experienced receiving items that had been previously opened/used and what their experience when they received them.

I have not had any problems with Ego items.  However, when I receive shipped items in unacceptable condition I presume it is the shippers issue and not the manufacturers.  I generally open the box to investigate as often the outsides look much worse than the inside due to all of the packaging.

But, I agree if you the product is damaged or compromised it is certainly getting returned.

Yeah I'm not sure  if this is EGO or UPS but I will return the items.

I recently received an edger from HD. I was surprised it arrived in a factory box and none of the easy open flaps were even taped over! I wouldn't be surprised if yours was shipped the same way and the product fell out during shipping and the shipper stuffed it back in. Since HD seems to be not shipping these with any care or effort maybe EGO needs to seal these boxes with tape.

Most of my Ego purchases, except for my 20-inch mower and the 12-inch trimmer, have been shipped to my house. Apart from some minor scuffs on the box they've been in good shape.

A friend of mine works loading and unloading trucks at a hub for one of the major U.S. shippers. He has horror stories about how boxes are sometimes handled. I would suspect the box came open in transit and was resealed by the shipper. If not, it would have been Home Depot's shipping department.

I wouldn't hesitate taking it back to HD for replacement. That kind of handling is unacceptable.
