I just watched a review of the 21" mower with 2 batteries, at one point in the review they compare the self propelled drive mechanism between the single and dual battery mowers.  The self propelled mechanism was changed/updated on the dual battery unit.  If I was to have trouble with the self propelled function on my single battery mower, can the updated drive be used? Looks like it could be easily changed.

Hi Mike! While we appreciate your innovative spirit, this is absolutely not something we'd recommend.  Furthermore, it would void the warranty. The two self-propel mechanisms are similar, but since one is brushed and the other brushless, they're not compatible.

Amber does the steel deck and the dual have the same self propel mechanism? If you look at the manuals the illustrations show the steel deck with the old drive and the dual with the new drive. Can you confirm? Thanks.

EGO’s Representative sent this statement out this summer.

Hello EGO Community! We’d like to take this opportunity to clear the air regarding our new Dual Battery Mower. Since there has been a great deal of interest and a bit of confusion surrounding this mower, let’s jump into the facts straightaway.

-This mower’s motor is brushless.
-This mower is rated at 1200W.
-This mower’s PeakPowerTM technology delivers more torque, longer run times, and a more efficient power draw.
-This is the most powerful brushless motor in the entire EGO Power+ mower lineup.

You’ll want to note that all of these statements have been confirmed by our engineering team. Also, the Steel Deck Self-Propelled Mower is rated at 1000W. Our apologies for any misunderstanding.
