I have two self propelled models and are both less than 4 months old.  I just took the first one back to HD for repair because the self propel speed control is not controlling the speed.  Its on  full speed all the time regardless if you move the adjustment up or down.  Now this morning I went to mow the lawn and the second mower is doing the same thing.  I made sure the handles were pulled out all the way, changed batteries, etc..  and still full speed all the time.  I have roughly $1600 invested between the mowers, weed wacker, and blower and this is unacceptable.

Jim, you're right, that shouldn't be happening. As far as I'm aware, you're the first person here to report the speed control being stuck wide open.

So this has happened with two mowers? Odd. I wonder if there's some environmental contributor?

If you don't mind me asking, what do you use two lawnmowers for?
