Can i adjust the scraper on the snow blower? I keep hitting the separations on the sidewalks. It looks to be too angled currently. I want to make it more horizontal with the ground. Thanks

The terrain I have to plow is grass with gravel underneath. I've been working on some kind of work around for 2 years without luck. Even thought about a pair of skis.
I just slightly pick the front up. Quite frankly it's a pain in the back. It would be very nice to have a scrapper that you can adjust or buy alternate designs that have different height adjustments.

I tend to hit every other gap between the sidewalk. It's frustrating and afraid that I'll break the machine. I'm about to return it.

A trick I use on sidewalks is to push the machine at a slight angle to the joints (slide it a little bit sideways). This keeps the scraper from falling into the cracks. Works pretty well.
But to answer your question, no the scraper is not adjustable. As it wears the edge should become less sharp and catch on fewer things.

used the angled method and it worked great on the sidewalks cleaning them to the surface and not catching on the joints.

I used the same trick and it does help a lot. However, I'm clearing my snow randomly instead of going straight path to make it more efficient at clearing my sidewalk and driveway.

Barry, I still travel in a straight line with the snowblower, I just slide it on an angle instead of letting it roll straight. It might take a little practice but I think it’s worth it.

After reading the angle trick/method I was thinking could EGO not make the the scraper bar a "V" shape? I notice many snow plows are like this and probably done for the same reason - so they don't hammer the expansion joints and unevenness of the road.

Now THAT might be a great idea! As long as it could be molded to keep a consistent clearance to the paddles I think that could work brilliantly!

That may work and it wouldn’t even have to be that drastic of a “V”. It could probably taper out from the center to each edge like an inch or maybe even less. That could be a game changer for ease of use. Anyone brave enough to shave their scraper bar down as a test subject

I think to be really effective this idea would require a new design with a helical twist along the edge so a constant distance is maintained between the scraper and paddles as the leading edge moves back. Think airplane propeller.
Without that feature, snow could pile up without getting fed to the paddles. Or maybe I’m overthinking it and it wouldn’t matter? That’s probable... :-\

No snow build up with my slide shoe add on. Dozens of other models and brands have this solution as well as a dozen add on kits. It works just fine.

I’m sure it does. But, once you elevate the scraper off the ground you lose the ability to scrape clean down to the asphalt.
For me, with a paved driveway and few obstacles to catch the scraper on, I prefer getting right to the asphalt. Everyone’s situation is not the same as mine, so I can definitely see the value in offering an adjustable system to accommodate. :-)

Open letter to EGO
I just jury rigged a snowblower slide shoe kit. I had to drill a few holes etc. It works like a charm. Please include a retro kit for all that have older machines and design a proper add-on to the current model to mount height adjusting slides.
The difference in performance is like day and night. It takes about 50% less effort to to push the blower with the slides set a half and inch lower than the scraper. It is amazing how much they help.
This should have been done a long time ago, instead you sent me 2 replacement scraper bars because the others wore down so fast. Commercially available slide shoe kits are available for under $30 and I'm sure you can design one for much less.
For such a smart company this solution is a "no brainer". No more manufacturing, shipping and handling replacement scraper bars. Most importantly of all, no more customer complaints concerning something that should have been addressed long ago.

Harry - at first I thought side shors were only for larger two-stage machines, but, that’s when I thought the EGO paddles touched the pavement to both clean the surface and pull the machine forward like single stage gas blowers. Since the EGO has paddles that are designed to be above the pavement like the metal augers on a 2-stage side shoes is an excellent solution.
(Although, a homegrown solution requiring drilled holes my affect the users warranty)

That's why I'm advocating EGO make the necessary changes. This really is an easy solution to a big problem that has been plaguing this machine from day one. I just bet it's cost effective as well. It should be a win-win for everyone.

snowblower scraper problems: raising height of snowblower with castors. Someone posted a photo with a link for castors that he used to attach to snowblower so that it could be used on gravel or other surfaces where scraper is a problem. Can anyone direct me to this post as I no longer can find it.

Mt snow blower is tilted . when you put downward pressure and lift it up and then place it back on the ground the right side touches first. tire pressure ,screws and skid adjustement didnt work. any thoughts

Tire Pressure ??
What kind of show blower do you have. Ego makes one model and it has solid plastic wheels.
Downward pressure then lift it up and then back on the ground - not sure what you are trying to do. Pictures might help

Latest iteration of wheels. First were small casters, which were ok until my blower overloaded, then upon getting a new blower I wanted to improve the setup and bolted 6" lawnmower wheels to each side, which were 1.5" thick and offered way too much resistance when moving through the snow.
My current setup, which I haven't had a chance to test yet, use the same axle/hole I did for the 1.5" wheels, but instead I bought an HDPE cutting board and bandsawed two 6" discs out of it. These wheels are only 1/4" thick. Maybe this will be the trick.
All I know is I had to try something, because the sidewalk joints were killing me!

How did you shovel snow before having a snow blower ? I find the snow blower slides like a shovel and the wheels are more for moving the machine when not in use. With side walk joints you know the location and direction why not just angle the snow blower to avoid the angle of the scrapper bar matching the joints,
To each his own - good luck with your new design.

The difference with the blower is you can work up a good fast pace, so when you hit the joints it is really jarring. Shoveling, yeah, I would hit them as well, but is a slower pace (and not as swear word inducing!) and definitely easier to angle a shovel slightly up than a blower.

Looks like it might work Michael. Good luck, and thank you for sharing. It might come in handy for possible future needs.
