Runtime and battery temperature video

I decided to time my mowing run with a starting battery temperature, a temperature after mowing (battery fully drained), temp during charging and a temperature after the charging is complete. Interesting results, and shows how well the battery/charger are engineered.

Great video!

The Ego battery/charger system is why I bought into the line, it's truly impressive stuff and is far more developed than any of its competitor's products... even well over a year after its introduction and after many competing product launches it's still on top.

Thanks for sharing!

Did you see the Ego vs. Echo teardown and charge time videos?

20 degree temp increase during use is a very useful data point to have. The manual also says that optimal performance is delivered between 32 - 104 degrees. So if the starting temperature is over 85 degrees, you may experience some diminished performance.

My personal experience is that at 85 degrees I can cut continuously through both my 4Ah battery and 2Ah battery with no issues. At 95 degrees my mower shuts off frequently only minutes after swapping in a fresh battery. I may have to get a infrared thermometer and replicate your readings in my warmer operating environment.

Thanks for sharing this info!

I haven't seen the yellow light yet, and the warmest day I've mowed in was about 83 degrees. That was also the day the grass was at about 5" tall.

Luke, thanks so much for creating and sharing this.  We shared this internally too.  We appreciate your dedication to the EGO platform and love seeing people recognize our battery/charger design choices.

I haven't experienced an overload nor had diminished performance and have cut my grass when it's been over 95 degrees here in the Houston area.
