Reversing spin of trimmer

I got an Ego string trimmer, and it was great  except it spun in the wrong direction. I looked online and I couldn't find any way to reverse it so I opened it up and figured it out myself. To reverse the spin, you have to undo a few screws on the battery area of trimmer and pull the cover off. Then you look for the blue, black and white cables coming from the shaft of the trimmer. Pull them out as far as you can. Look for the shrink wrap and cut it off the blue and black, underneath is a two part crimp that connects the cables to themselves. Uncrimp the middle of them using needle nose pliers and a bit of time. The cables should separate. Then take the top half of the black(coming from the battery), and the bottom half of the blue(coming from the shaft, it may be a green or turquoise), Insert the male into the female part of the crimps, and close them together using pliers, wrap in electrical tape. Do the same for the blue. Then route the cables so the cover can be closed, and tighten the screws down. I advise you take pictures so you can look back to try and fix anything you break. I am almost certain this voids any warranty.

Why do you say: "it spun in the wrong direction".
- compared to another same? or another brand?

Different type/brand trimmers may spin different direction. Commercial and straight shaft usually spin counterclockwise..
I dont have an ego trimmer, so i don't know which way it spins.
Maybe you didn't like it from habit, and reversed its spin?
But remember that if it spins the wrong way  in relation to its spool design, it wont feed the string properly.

For an experienced righty it spins the wrong way. You want it to spim cc so it pulls itself along as you cut instead of trying to force its way back towards you. It feeds fine, but if you use the guard the string wont be cut

I have to ask but when you trim right handed do you mean the right hand is the back hand on the controls or forward hand on the handle? (I've seen it called right handed both ways)

Dalva, that works if you’re trimming left to right and want to blow the trimmings away from you, but what about trimming along a flower bed where you want to keep the clippings out?

For me, a rightie, I’d have to walk backwards (trim right to left) with a CCW rotating trimmer. ;-)

I think arguments can be made to support either configuration.

Ego is happy to sell you a blower to clean up those clippings :)

If a clockwise trimmer is wrong then I don't want to be right. It's the one thing I hate about the multi-tool trimmer.

The unintended consequence of this modification is that the bump feed may not work correctly, as they are designed to be rotation specific.  In the thread below, the Kobalt spins opposite of the ST1500 trimmer, and the new PH1400/STA1500 spins the opposite as the ST1500, and the same as the Kobalt.  If the bump feeds works correctly that's great, but I don't think it will.

Here's another thread where I adapted an ECHO speed feed 400 head, and that one has a unique head that you could reverse the direction on; if you have issues, you could look into incorporating that addition so that the trimmer will feed correctly:

As I mentioned, if the Husqvarna one works, then the EGO might work considering that the feeding system is run by centrifugal force.  The thing I'd be concerned about is the spool becoming unraveled because of the oppositely-directed rotational acceleration, which is maybe what you're already thinking.

You just have to wrap the string in the oposite direction.

you can give that a try, but i doubt it will work.  you can prove it to yourself by disassembling the head and looking at the directional RAMPS.  to truly reverse the operation, those ramps would have to face the opposite way.
