Releasing string on 15" trimmer

Friends,

I just bought the 15" trimmer. It works well, except that one of the two string ends that extend from the bump head keeps disappearing into the head. I removed the head and made sure the string wasn't jammed, and threaded it through. Within ten minutes, the end had disappeared again. I don't know if it's the "upper" or "lower" string, to the extent that matters. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks!

Steve

Weird. Take picture of the holes the string comes out on both sides. I want to make sure your not missing anything. Als take pic of you opening it up so we can see how its wound. Also if you tug on one of the lines, does the bump feed button pull itself in?

Pix attached. Also, tugging on one of the lines doesn't depress the bump feed button. There's just solid resistance. Sorry that some of the pix are upside down. Thanks!

ThNks. I think you have too much line wrapped. I was asking about if you pulled the line and the button depressed, that means te line is wrapped the wrong way. So your wrap direction is good. Perhaps wrap 10 revolutions around the spool, keep the top line in the top channel, bottom line in the bottom channel.

Almost looks like the top string is tangled and caught in one place, and when the bump feed spins the bobbin it starts reeling it in.

I actually think blue angel nailed it On the head. The bumpfeed is rotating but the 2nd line is being pulled back in as its being hooked by the line that is overlapping it

Champion,

You might be correct, although I've respun the reel several times. I bought the unit last week and the problem presented itself immediately upon first use. Presumably, they wound the reel correctly at manufacture. I've contacted Ego but not heard back from them. I've never used a dual string trimmer before; my other ones have been single stringers, which worked reasonably well.

Thanks for your thoughts.
