The battery shows charged. But when I run the mower it changes to red. Why? What should I do?

Does the mower continue to run or does it stop? How quickly does the light change to red? How long has the battery been on the charger?

Milana, here is what the manual says regarding a defective battery or charger (page 18 of the standard charger manual):

Note: I believe the manual is referring only to the LED lights on the charger, not the one on the battery.

I also noticed you are charging the 4Ah battery on the standard charger.  Do you have the rapid charger that comes with the mower as well?  If so, I would recommend trying that charger out.  If both chargers refuse to charge the battery, it's very likely a battery issue.  If the other charger charges the battery OK, your standard charger may be defective.

I'm concerned that no lights are lighting on the charger. It sounds to me like the battery was depleted while you were mowing, but the charger isn't charging it. One of the lights on the charger should be lit when the battery is on it, assuming the battery is fully seated and the charger is plugged in.

I'm still curious as to how long you were mowing before the battery depleted.

I also see you're using the "slow" charger that comes with most of Ego's tools other than the mower. Do you have the fast charger that came with the mower?

I charged a couple of batteries on my "slow" charger last night. The green LED on the charger should be flashing while its charging and the cooling fan should re running. When charging is complete the green LED on the charger should stop blinking and stay lit.

If that's the information I had I would say nothing is wrong... Just that it's time to charge the battery. Running the mower puts a load on the battery and causes the voltage to drop which triggers the red light.

The red light means that you have less than 15% charge left and is time to charge.

A blinking red light means nearly depleted and charge right away.

Green light means over 15% charged.

If it's the first mow of the season or you haven't used the battery in a while the red light may come on sooner as after 30 days of non use the battery does a self discharge to 30%.

Milana, is the battery showing it's charged fully when it's on the charger before mowing?

I am having the problem Milana described and none of the responses so far are helpful.  Specifically, I have a 56v, 4Amp battery with rapid charge. charger indicates it is fully charged. But the warning light on the mower turns solid red as soon as I put it in. Mower runs, but red light stays on.  I have already used the mower several times this year without problem. Mower and battery are in 3rd year.
