I'm thinking of buying the SP mower. In talking to a local dealer for EGO, he told me that pushing the SP mower instead of using the SP feature could damage the gearbox. That doesn't sound right to me. Anyone have information on this?

You have absolutely nothing to worry about. Also, check out a similar convo here: https://community.egopowerplus.com/ego/topics/can-the-lm2101sp-used-without-the-self-propeller-on

The only "local dealers" that I know of are Home Depot stores, and their staff knows absolutely ZERO about EGO products and features from every experience that I've had with our local stores!!!

If you look on EGO's web site, they show you a list of dealers, including HD. This place is a mower repair shop. And I did find a HD employee who is studying mechanical engineering who was very knowledgeable about the EGO mowers.

Sorry if I offended someone, but it would be the exception and not the rule based upon all of the experiences that I and many others have had with HD if you read the blogs regarding HD. There are no such other "dealers" in our area (St. Louis, MO and Metro-East, IL). If you do a 50-mile radius search on the EGO "Find a Store" field on their Website, all you get are HD stores, and I've been to quite a few of them with the same results.

No offense taken. I just thought there were dealers all around the country in addition to HD. And I was very surprised to find someone, let alone a mech engr student, working at HD who was well informed about all of their eqpt. For what it's worth, he said they sell so many EGO blowers they can't keep them in stock. This was near Akron, Ohio. I would say there are about 4-5 non-HD EGO dealers within 25 miles of my house (Cleveland/Akron). I only called one to see if they service them as well as sell them since that seems to be a major complaint of the eqpt taken to HD. They do.

I actually have a local dealer in a town about 5 miles from me. It's nice not having to rely on home Depot.

I can see why they sell a lot of the blowers--EGO blowers are exceptional.
