How often do the product lines get updated? I'm thinking about the leaf blower, but might wait if there's a new one each year.

Well they have like 5 or 6 leaf blowers I think and more then a handful of trimmers/variations so safe bet there will be another trimmer and blower in a few months haha

The leaf blowers & string trimmers do appear to be upgraded relatively frequently.

I have the 530 CFM handheld blower and it's very nice, I recommend getting it. (I got it on a super sale for $99, the current price is $149.)  Even if they release a newer one, I can't imagine any good feature they could add to make it that much better at blowing air than the current one.

My impression is that the latest string trimmer (Carbon Fiber shaft with powerload) is going to be nicer than the last one (with the Rapid Reload head.....which I've heard some people grumble about), so I've ordered it using the current Memorial Day Sale. I'll be able to speak more about it after it arrives.

when'd you get the leaf blower for $99? Does Home Depot do a better sale or was it kind of random

They had the 575 leaf blower for $99 later in the year last year when I bought one so look for better sales later in the year. Note the 575 is being discontinued (might be totally gone by now) but other good deals should show up later in the year. PS. I had a $25 gift card from HD so I really got the 575 for $74!

Yep, it was a limited time home depot in-store sale, limit 2 per customer. (I bought two, one for me, one as a gift.)

I really wish more accessories for the tools would start showing up. Wheels for the string trimmers to make them easier to use as an edger, perhaps different nozzles for leaf blowers, different blades for the mowers, among other things. I know that's not the point of this thread, but it might be time to take a break from releasing another string trimmer, mower, etc and address what's out there already.

My old 18v black & decker string trimmer had a "front guard" (a piece of wire in an L shape) that doubled as an "edger" guide. You could swivel the shaft 90 degrees, place the end of the bent wire over a concrete sidewalk, and walk the trimmer down the line.
It worked relatively well for trimming grass that was encroaching, and I thought it was a nice design feature, but looking back, it wasn't a "real" edger. I bought the power head + edger attachment and the steel blade edger (really, a mini trencher) does a much better job than a string trimmer turned sideways, cutting out the roots instead of just knocking back the tops of things.

So yes, having a "front guide" and 90 degree swivel on a string trimmer would add value, and let you get the job done without buying an actual edger, but now that I have a "real" edger I don't think I'd go back.
