Not a bad idea!

I don't think it's practical to have a main motor as battery powered by small packs, but I could see electric trolling motors powered by Ego packs.

In all honesty, I don't think this type of power system would work well for a outboard motor or trolling motor.  There is a lot of resistance in water, and I believe it would drain really quickly.  That's why you see so many with big car type batteries... BIG amps.
