I caved and bought an ePropulsion Spirit 1.0, which is a competitor to the Torqeedo Travel 1003 C. I like it very much, but those two products are $1800 and $2600, respectively. Based on the pricing on EGO's other products, I think you could sell a similar product for under $1k with two 7.5ah batteries included (putting you in the same overall energy ballpark as the aforementioned).

But definitely go direct drive like the ePropulsion; it's so much quieter than the geared Torqeedo.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Boat Trolling Motor.

There is no one out there producing a Lithium-ion powered trolling motor. I, for one, would love to leave my 50 lb. acid battery at home and would pay top dollar for a lithium version. This would be a big hit with all boat owners who have trolling motors. PLEASE design and build one soon!
