This conversation has been merged. Please reference the main conversation: Why is my brand new battery to my ego lawnmower blinking orange fully charged after only 5 cuts? Its blinking even not in.

Fresh out of the charger the orange light flashes as soon as I turn on mower. Underside of deck is clean. Mower is on patio (no load). Any ideas

Which model mower do you have (20 or 21)?  What size battery?

How old is your mower?

Do you run over anything abnormal, rock, root, etc.?

Try this:
1) Remove the battery
2) Place the mower in the stowed vertical position
3) Rotate the blade by hand, it should spin freely in both directions

About a year and a half I think.  20" mower.    She may have hit a root. I wasn't here. Blade spins freely both directions. Will run for a few seconds but then shuts down with flashing orange

Can you try (or confirm) two more things:

1) Will the mower run just sitting there (not being pushed) for more than 1 minute?

2) If #1 works, try pulling the mower backwards over grass

The above will determine if the handle extended safety circuit is shutting the mower off.

Very early (2-3 year) old 20" mowers have a defective handle clamp design, you can use the following thread to inspect yours to determine if you have the OLD or NEW style:

As previously stated, Just sitting there on patio, it will run for a few seconds and then shut off.
