Official Response
Perhaps the metal eyelet in the trimmer head is missing, or maybe there’s a sharp edge or burger on that metal eyelet? Just a couple of things to check.

Are you sure it’s the same side that breaks every time? If not maybe putting a mark on the trimmer head would be a good idea so you can see which side is breaking.

Hi Michael, did you carefully inspect the hole where the string comes through? And, as Blue Angel suggests is it always the same hole that the string breaks? Are you opening up the trimmer head to extend some string? If so, what are you seeing inside the trimmer head that might be causing this?

What brand and diameter of string are you using?
