Leaning towards Ryobi (gas or battery) because of the attachments and price.
But like the ego better for quality. Home Depot does not carry their new model and it is priced 399. I want the ego lawn mower, but I already have a gas that works.

I may be biased here because I absolutely hate Ryobi tools. But I would use a scissors before I used a Ryobi tool.

Egos setup is expensive, but you get what you pay for in my opinion.

I needed a trimmer for my elderly parents, and went with the Black & Decker 40v solution because it was much lighter than the Ego 56v, and it had a snap on plastic mini mower setup.  It is way less powerful than the Ego, but is the right too  that matches their ability.
For the average consumer, the Ego is head and shoulders better than the competition, but there are specific cases where another vendor might have a more appropriate offering, whether it is B&D or Ryobi.

I have both Ryobi and Ego systems. My wife prefers the Ryobi as it is lightweight and less powerful. She feels overpowered by the Ego. I am a power junkie, preferring to get the job done quickly so the Ego is a great fit for me.

If you have a small yard and minimal work the Ryobi I can be a good fit. If you have a larger job, demand performance or lack patience get the Ego.
