No shoulder strap!

I just bought my first EGO string trimmer. I was surprised not to find a shoulder strap included. I've never bought a string trimmer, that a shoulder strap was not included! And then to find out that it was going to cost me another $20.00 to get one.....well, it just felt underhanded. Like a con job. I never dreamed when I was researching, that I should find out if it came with one or not. Never crossed my mind. I know for most people, an extra $20. is probably not a big deal, but for a disabled vet on limited disability income, that's a lot of $. Other than the fact that I can only use it for about 10 min. before i have to put it down, it seems like a very well constructed piece of equipment. Too bad this small thing has left a bad taste in my mouth.

I had the same thing happen but I already knew it was part of a really bad add campaign. They actually thought it was a good idea to hold back on the plastic discharge piece that is part of the mowers.. Instead they left a note from the MFG in the box saying that if I wanted the (FREE) side discharge I have to register the product. The plastic part was also inside the box so they must have decided it was not a good idea. Their marketing is to make customers sign up and use the internet to spread the word. It is fine with me but yes your right when I got my blower there was no shoulder strap. I ended up using one from my kids Nerf gun. I love my EGO products so I am willing to overlook a lot of the itty bitty defects.

Kevin, I’m 42 years old now, most of which I’ve been cutting grass. As a teenager I maintained a few lawns for extra cash with the home owners’ equipment. I can honestly say I’ve yet to see a shoulder strap on a string trimmer.

Perhaps some of those people had straps for their trimmers and didn’t put them on, but regardless, it’s still something that I’ve yet to see. The trimmers I’ve owned and the trimmer my parents owned (a gas Weed Eater model) certainly haven’t had one.

I mean no disrespect; I work with the military and have nothing but the highest respect for those who have served and sacrificed. In Ego’s defense I don’t think that it should be assumed they have to include straps with every tool.

If you have not already, you may want to look into Home Depot’s Military discounts. That may help with your purchase:

Kevin. Thank you for your service and sacrifice. Unfortunately hd military discount program is lacking. Although nice of them to do something. You can’t get the discount with online purchases. It’s hit or miss on sale items or special buys in the store. I like Lowes program better. You get the discount 365 24/7. Even on sale items no hassles. In store or online. Thank you for your service is printed on the receipt. You should be able to find one at Walmart or local hardware stores etc. thanks again Brother. Steve

I can honestly say, I've never had a strap included with any of my string trimmers of the past...and I'm older than Blue. I had planned on buying the strap but found I can get by without it. Although, I do admit that the tendinitis and tennis elbow do kick in from time to time.

Our son recently bought a Ryobi string trimmer and it didn't come with a shoulder strap. It would be interesting to know which string trimmers you've bought that included a shoulder strap.

I know those cheap, disposable $99. gas powered trimmers do not come with a shoulder strap. No need for one, they weigh next to nothing. Go buy a decent Stihl. Something that will last more than 2 seasons, and isn't made of plastic. Blue Angel---LOL! Since the strap is not carried in stock at any HD store, the military discount can't be used, and the $2. isn't going to make a difference. Especially after you add the $2. back on for sales tax. Steve--thanks bro. I shop at both Lowe's and Home Depot. Lowe's doesn't carry EGO products. I'll probably try and fashion something that will work.

I was just making sure you were aware of the 10% discount available on the purchase price of the tool, which at $200 would cover the cost of the $20 shoulder strap.
