Some people might not know that there is a new version of the 14" chainsaw available, so if you are in the market for a 14" EGO chainsaw, you should be aware of what to look for so you will be sure to buy the newer model.

There are 2 ways to identify the new 14" chainsaw.

1)  The new chainsaw has it's size (14") painted on the guide bar, while the guide bar of the older model does not show the 14" length.

2)  The new chainsaw has a handle which has ribbed lines in it, while the handle on the older model is smooth and has no ribbed lines on it.

You can see the differences these pictures:

Curious if the oiler is different.  The Window and fill cap are still the same.

Are there any functional differences?

Don't think so.  Just cosmetic.

The new 14” model has the upgraded motor from the 16” chainsaw.

Video is over 2 years old. I thought you were posting about a recent change as you refer to a new version or new model. So I guess you are correct. The tool changed 2 years ago.

Please disregard my previous post

I bought a EGO 14" chainsaw from Amazon yesterday and then noticed that the picture showed the older saw with non-upgraded motor. I contacted Ego who said the motor was upgraded in 2017. Should I expect the upgraded model?

Was the saw actually sold by Amazon and not some 3rd party? It's important for warranty purposes and could be important if you try to return it if it doesn't have the newer motor.
Do you have a link to the Amazon page?

Specifically, Amazon is an authorized Ego retailer, while many 3rd parties (who sell via the Amazon website) are not, and Ego won't honor warranty claims if the saw was not sold by an authorized retailer.
