EGO power plus official Facebook confirmed a new 21” steel deck with dual battery port is coming soon, but no release date yet.

I think I will be getting that. Just got my power head with edger attachment today, we’ll see what it does this weekend.

Some might say “I don’t know why people want a plastic deck my steel deck works just fine.”

Every consumer has different choices why they buy variations of products.

I’m more interested in the Steel deck because it has a actual side discharge vs the plastic deck discharging out the rear. Based on the reviews I have read the plastic deck rear discharging could be better also specifically when bagging vs when bagging with traditional steel deck design.

Maybe their plastic will last forever maybe not. Perceived feel plays somewhat of a roll when consumers purchase something also.

I've never had a side discharge mower, what's the benefit of going that route instead of rear discharge?

I have had to cut some overgrown messy grass and side discharge seemed to help out a lot going directly out the side and distributing a little more evenly. I’ve never had a rear discharge but I found reviews on amazon and HD stating the rear discharge wasn’t as good since it was angled through the back and to the side and caused some clumping.

Yes with the "side Discharge" located in the rear of the mower the grass has to make a sharp turn which does not allow for broad distribution of the clipping.

With the side discharge on the side the grass continue in the same direction as is being created by the blade and thus a much cleaner and broader disbursement of the clippings.

So, if you intend on using it, that could be a plus.
I have never used it, so does not matter to me.  Mulching has been working fine.
