_ From my point of view ALL EGO products are overpriced.
_ They could become a leader by beginning a lower pricing trend on battery powered equipment.
_ This would force all other companies to follow suit.
_ It is all about $$$ and customers are an ancillary matter.

That feature undoubtedly adds cost to the manufacturing process. There will be more parts, plus complexity of manufacturing. I'd say a $5 cost increase is more than fair. That represents, what, less than 3.5% increase? That's assuming you pay full retail on a standalone battery.
Walt, there are cheaper battery-powered lawn tools than Ego if cost is a concern. Of course they're less powerful and the reviews on them aren't as good and they have significantly shorter warranties.
You seem surprised to find that Ego is a for-profit company.

Seems to go this way with new products. HD or some tool reviewer puts out the info before Ego does their official announcement and website update.
New tools/features are the goods. How we get the info is secondary.

Does this battery come with an electric (EGO battery operated) hoist to assist lifting? Just joking, but the weight would limit its use to a few tools on wheels. The commercial backpack power source, but not compatible with the residential line.

Perhaps using it on the backpack link to power string trimmers, hedge trimmers, blowers, etc. And, direct use into any of the lawnmowers. Plenty of residential uses for that monster.

Yeah, William, one of my first thoughts is for people who might need 2 batteries, or have to recharge one in order to fully mow a lawn but don't want to get the dual battery mower. The 10ah battery could be just the trick for someone like that. 2 of those in a snowblower, wow wouldn't that be wild if someone needed the run time of 2 of those in a snowblower.

A 20Ah snowblower kit is already on my wishlist! We’re building a house with a 3 car garage and a ~100’ driveway. Give me a decent wet snowfall and I’ll be begging, borrowing and stealing every Ah I can get my hands on! :-)

Blue Angel, before we retired and downsized, we had a 100' driveway that was also walled in on 3 sides. The brick wall was about 6' tall and it wasn't easy throwing a shovel full of snow that height. I shoveled into a wheelbarrow to transport to the street; grueling, but I was younger then. A 13" snowfall took me 8 hours of non stop work to clear the driveway. That was 15 years ago and battery operated tools of this quality wasn't even thought of then.
