I charged it to 100 % before winter storage. I stored it for about 5 months indoors, but not on the charger. I expected it to be at 30% power after the period of storage, as a result of the self-discharge operation which is explained in the owner's manual. But I put it on the rapid charger, which indicated that it was at 100% charge, and the charger didn't charge the battery any further (indicating that the battery was already at full charge). Do I need to leave the battery on the charger while in storage for it to self-discharge? Or should it self-discharge even off the charger? If the battery isn't self-discharging, is that a problem? I thought that the self-discharge operation was intended to prolong the life of the battery, but I called EGO customer support and they said that the fact that my battery didn't self-discharge would have no effect on the longevity of the battery. So I'm wondering if the self-discharge function isn't there to prolong the battery life, what is its purpose? Is there any potential problem in my battery not self-discharging?
