Mulching w/ hi lift blade on taller grass?

I mulch, use #3 or #4 height setting on a thick, tall fescue. As my lawn became more healthy, the worse the performance from the factory blade. I overlap my tire tracks probably 6-10 inches but I still get some noticeable strips of grass that aren't cut (as well as leaving some clumps here and there). I admit I'm a bit particular, but I've resulted to mowing twice in my front yard; doing perpendicular passes after I finish the first cut. This is technically dry grass, but it's thick, very green, healthy.

I considered sharpening the factory mulching bade, but now I want to try the high lift blade based on the reviews of people successfully mulching with this, but not many reports of how high they mow with this blade. Those that are having luck mulching with the lift blade seem to be cutting low from what little info I can gather. Any experience mulching with the high lift blade while the blade is set to a 3 or 4?

Still love my mower, pretty loyal to Ego to be honest, and would never go to gas because of this. Would rather hack my way into better performance so specific info is really appreciated.

You will get the same results with high lift blade. I switched back to normal blade. I have same grass and issues. I use the blower on the grass after I but it. This is faster than cutting it twice. Mix the grass, one pass, then walk same pattern with blower and disperse the clippings. Works for me. Highlift blade clippings are even larger than normal blade. I cut on #3

Aww Trout.  I was really hoping for better results from the high lift blade, but EGO did say it was not for mulching.  Bet it's nice for bagging.

I've been using the Hi Lift blade on my 21" Ego push mower for 2 months now and I'm very impressed with it. I have new sod, so I'm bagging my clippings and the Hi Lift blade does a much better job of cleanly cutting the lawn than the stock blade. I'm now mulching my neighbor's leaves and it's working great! The leaves are cleanly mulched up and no piles of partially cut debris are left behind.

Good to hear positive results being achieved with your mower and the HL blade.   I just posted a before and after leaf mulching completed with the stock blade.  Different lawn conditions seem to warrant different blades.  Nice that they both are able to get the job done.

My lawn is new sod (installed in May) and I keep it at 4". I mow once a week and bag my clippings  per the instructions from the sod farm.  My Ego LM2101 did a good job with the stock blade but it's significantly better with the High Lift blade! The new blade picks up leaves and debris that the stock blade left behind, even at 4" cutting height.    I mow my neighbor' lawn since he's not physically able to do it and I have been mulching the clippings and leaves and it does a great job! No clumps or mes left behind. I'm very impressed!
