Purchased my mower in March. Used it twice. Worked great! 2 weeks later, used it again on same patch of grass. Everything fine at first. Then the yellow light blinked. I shut the mower down, figuring that I was walking too fast or something. 20 minutes later restarted on my driveway and it started right up. Put it on the grass and it immediately stopped. Several more times it did this (mown grass). The blade turns without restriction, I can't see anything blocking any vents or output chute. What now?

Sounds like a battery issue

Give customer service a call. They will help you troubleshoot the issue and/or get you the parts you need to be back up and mowing:

Thanks.  I did call the number.  They referred me to a service provider about an hour away.  No troubleshooting though.

If you've tried another battery, sure sounds like it may be the bearing seizing up.  Not sure.  Do as Blue said though.

I experienced the same problem cutting lawn for the fourth time.  Customer service offers two options; (i) return to Home Depot, or (ii) take it to a service center which is an hour away.  It will be at least 2.5 hours to drop it off and 2.5 hours to pick it up.  Home Depot is five minutes away and they will replace it on the spot.  Love the mower, customer service is not much help.

Haha, probably true! Put Jacob at the end of the street with his Frankentools and it would be quite the place!

I wonder if I can sweet talk my way into getting a mower blade into our Scanning Electron Microscope at work. Probably not as easy as rounding up a propane torch and some used motor oil for some good ol quenching fun. :-)

You see the difference would be that Jacob would Harden 4 Blades and then use the EGO 7Ah Battery and 4 motors to make worlds first lawn mowing drone.  Meanwhile we sit by the burning oil and torch with some hot dogs.  We couldn't keep up with him!

Man, I'm hijacking a thread.  Bad.  I'll stop now and keep on subject.

At that point he could just mow our lawns and we could sit around roasting hot dogs and disposing of barley based beverages.

Right, back on topic!

Wow. This is the first time that someone wasn't happy with customer service. I am assuming you purchased within the home depot return policy timeframe. so its probably easier for you and ego to have home depot exchange it. Otherwise i cant imagine that EGO would expect its customers to go out of their way to have their products under warranty serviced. Most of the time they ship a new one out to you and you send yours to them.

Jacob, they didn't really give me any option other than a repair shop about an hour away.

Update: I didn't receive much help from customer service, and the only repair place they referred me to had a 2 month wait list!! Yikes!  So I called Home Depot and they couldn't have been nicer.  They have a 90-day return policy for electric mowers, so I hauled everything in and they handed me a new mower.  Pretty painless.   Thanks for everyone's helpful comments and I will definitely make a note to sharpen the blade often.

EC, we're so sorry to hear that our customer service wasn't able to help you to your satisfaction.  We take these kinds of complaints seriously and will be sure to share this within the team.  Oftentimes, we try to avoid a return if possible since we are able to offer service for a fix or replace parts for you.  We are happy to hear that Home Depot was able to take care of you but disappointed that we didn't offer the best solution for your needs on your first call to us.  Please accept our apologies.  Keep us posted on your new mower.  We welcome the feedback!
