Bought my Ego mower in March.  I have a small yard I keep maincured by weekly cutting.  Mower runs maybe 30 minutes a week.  Last week the mower wouldn't start.  All I get is the orange light blinking for ten seconds.  It's not the battery as I use it for my Ego chainsaw ( a true weapon) and it works fine with it.  I called customer support and they tell me that Tool Rental at Home Depot is who tries to fix it initially.  If they can't then the woman at Ego told me repair is 4-6 weeks.  For a $450 mower that is barely six months old.  Tragic.  I will be documenting and blogging about this repair process, good and bad, until my mower is back in service.  Stay tuned.

Orange light is an overload indicator I believe.  Check the blade (with battery out) to ensure if moves freely. look for any debris in the underside of the mower.

If you end up at HD repair, I would stay on top of it checking the status frequently.

HD repair is going to be the death of Ego. Good luck.

My mower has been to HD twice this past summer. Ran great for April May.  June it died HD replaced the blade it ran for 3 weeks.  It died again back to HD.  They had it a week then it went to a repair shop somewhere. Found out yesterday this shop is not a solely an EGO repair shop they repair any HD mower. The motor and bushings were shot after three months?? These parts are no longer made.  This was a new mower! They said EGO will replace the mower. This will take 10 days then gets sent to Indiana then sent out to HD then I pick it up again.  The rep at the HD mower repair told me he will contact EGO to just sent it directly to me.  It's been 5 weeks so far. I had to purchase what I thought would a back up mower. Having a back up mower for a new mower is crazy and I am not the only one doing this! I read the glowing review EGO recently received I read a lot of reviews prior to purchasing. A review should be written about long term ownership or sadly short term ownership. I am not bitter, just REALLY disappointed in EGO mowers and thier lack of concern.

That does it. Bought one of these mowers as a gift 3 years ago. It has operated just fine. I was going to buy one for myself, but this, and other HD complaints have stopped me. This is the Tesla of the mower world. Fine product until it breaks....

Isn't that the case with all products.

We are seeing 10% of Ego's customers that come to this site and 10% of that population has problems.  So that equates to 1% breakage/repair rate.
(All my baseless estimates but you get the idea.)

It is not the repair rate, but the problems you have trying to get it repaired, if it breaks. If you are one of these people than it is a big issue.

It's a $450 mower. It's been lightly used for six months. It should not break. Period. Ive grown up with gas mowers and have beat them to death over years of use. Never, ever, has a mower died so quickly in my experience. And now that it's broken, i need a back up mower for up to six weeks while my Ego is in for repair. I rented a gas mower today from Home Depot. 25 bucks. That means my warranty repair will cost me 150 dollars if it in fact does take six weeks. They are selling 21 inch gas pushers for 180 bucks. Not happy at all with this Ego mower.
