Steve, mine did same thing and there is a fairly easy fix. If your handle does not click when you press your green start button and pull back your handle, here is your fix: Take you top casing cover off, there are 4 screws in front and 13 on back cover. {Careful as there is a spring to return your green button you don't wish to lose. I suggest having a bowl to put all your screws and bolts in.
The problem is that the square switch relay box does not lock into place and with mine, it slid back to the casing cover which caused the handle switch mechanism to fall behind the relay box, thus no clicking when pulling handle and lawn mower will not turn on.
Once I repositioned the Box relay sliding back into position and had my handle switch back on top, not in behind the relay box, I got my click back when pressing my green button and pulling back the start handle. What I also did was put a peel and stick furniture pad on back of relay box so that it would press onto back of housing when closed up to help keep the relay box from sliding out and same problem occurring.
(Suggestion to EGO: update the box relay in the handle so that it locks into place and can not slide forward which allows the handle switch to fall behind relay switch and making the lawnmower inoperable.)
Other than that, I LOVE my EGO products!!!

For the average customer, it probably isn't worth jeopardizing your warranty coverage by drilling into your mower. Not to mention the risk of cutting or exposing an internal wire by cutting or drilling into the panel.

Same thing happened to me. The headlight worked, the handles were fully extended, etc. Turns out it was the part that rests between the safety lever and the switch. It was stuck below the switch, thereby leaving the key ineffective. The key rested below it's full "return" position, a clue to the jam. I was able to disassemble the housing, free the part, and re-assemble the unit. All the screws you need to remove are straightforward except for the two that get threaded through the handles. There's a sleeve that slides into the handle that also needs to be positioned properly upon reassemble. Not difficult if you have any aptitude for assembly. The mower is now okay, but I'm guessing this issue that will re-occur, failing an improved spring or perhaps a restyled part.
