I recently bought the 20inch mower.  I'm wondering if the packing material in the box is compostable?  It does look like egg carton type cardboard but I don't want to put it in my compost until I know for sure.

The new packaging (PH1400/STA1500) appears to be more environmentally friendly, lots of plain brown cardboard with minimal black print ink.  The old packaging was glossy black and lots of "ego" green.  I'd compost the new stuff, but I don't think I'd compost the old stuff.  For the old glossy stuff, you could peel back the glossy print and throw that in the trash, and then throw the base cardboard layer into the compost.

If you have the space, I'd keep the box for the first 90 days in case you need to return it or ship it back for service.
