I have an issue with my EGO mower. As soon as the battery is inserted, the headlights turn on straight away and cannot be turned off.

I've tried lots of things to try and turn them off, from pressing the headlight switch normally, pressing it multiple times in a row, holding it down for 10 seconds or more, pressing it while the mower is running and also not running, and pressing it while the battery is out - but nothing will turn the headlights off.

So whenever the battery is clipped in the lights are always on, meaning I can't store the battery in the mower between uses (unless you hit the battery eject button but leave it in the dock, disconnected).

More of an annoyance than a critical issue, but the mower is only 6 months old and any help is appreciated.

Just a wild guess. Hold the light button, and eject the battery. While still holding the light button down insert the battery. Luck be with you

Thank you for the suggestion, but unfortunately for me it didn't fix the problem.

Can you toggle the light off?

When you press the button do you feel a click? Could be the contact is stuck down. Some others have had the issue with lights on all the time but not sure if there was a simple fix.

The button still clicks as it did when it was brand new, it just doesn't do anything. So long as the battery is loaded the headlights are on.

It's as if someone snuck in during the night and hardwired the headlights directly to the battery.

Do EGO staff check and respond here at all?

Sometimes. Try sending e-mail to support or call first thing in the morning.

It's a false connection. Lights wires are making contact with source power. Playing with button is not going to fix it. Get in touch with manufacturer. It's a defective issue

Official Response
Sean, did you get a hold of our customer service team for help (1-855-346-5656)?  Please keep us posted.  All of the suggestions here were correct and what I would have suggested too. If you take the battery out and the lights are still on, there's definitely something wrong but your mower has a 5 year warranty and we stand behind our products.
