While charging, my (20") mower battery cycles red, then yellow, then green while charging.

I started my day by putting the battery in the mower.  The power indicator started out red, but I was able to mow for about half an hour before it stopped.  I put the battery back on the charger (I did not pay attention to the lights, so I don't know what they did).  After about an hour, it seemed to be finished charging, so I took the battery back to the mower.  The power indicator started red but quickly turned green.  After a little while, the power indicator turned red again.  After another ten to fifteen minutes, the power indicator started flashing red, and the mower stopped.  The light on the battery was also flashing red.  I took the battery out and put it on the charger.  This time I paid attention, and the battery light started cycling between red, yellow, and green.

Is the battery bad?  The charger?  The mower?  What should I do?

Official Response
The battery cycling red yellow green while charging is normal operation.  When the battery is fully charged the light will show solid green (no flashing nor other colors).  Once the cooling fan stops the battery is fully charged and ready for use.
