Minor annoyment: Battery cover not staying open when inserting battery into mower. I don't have a problem handling the battery size with one hand but others with smaller hands might have trouble .

Luxury problem.  Deepest sympathies - lol

(PS, my fish pond leaks too)

Gotta agree with Speedoh. One of the first things I thought when I got my new mower home was "why doesn't the battery lid stay open?"

First world problems, yeah I know, but so is having to cut grass. ;-)

I know it's a luxury problem but an easy one to over look on pricey machine . I think the machine was well thought out compared to many but always has a small improvement on something to make it an ultimate machine.

Stand mower on end like you do when storing mower. Battery lid stays open then. :)
I always put my battery in that way when getting ready for a mowing session.

Seem like a good temporary solution. Thanks

Great solution but is there really a problem? I never thought about it until it was mentioned.

Like you David, this was not an issue for me when I had the 21" SP mower, but everyone is different so it's good to see different ideas from different owners.

This was posted as original idea not a problem. It becomes a problem if one has small hands. Handling the massive battery with both hands without dropping as you insert it vertically into the slot because the cover won't stay open could be a problem for some. Are the batteries covered by EGO due to individuals mishandling them such as dropping. These are just thoughts for all users.

Yea, it could be a problem with one hand. I guess some people would open the cover and then pick up the battery with both hands.

I've always suspected Ego designed the battery cover that way on purpose, so people don't leave it open while they're mowing. I don't know what the safety concern might be, but I think there's a reason for it.

Perhaps to make sure dust and debris stay out of the battery compartment and don't foul up the contacts or bung up the ejector lift?

The compartment could fill with water.

I'll buy that reasoning for a buck, well 600 of them actually.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled battery mower cover.

Perhaps a detent for the battery cover on the mower so it will stay upright when you are taking battery in or out. Perhaps on the tweak engineering list for the future.
