Went to mow today and this happened :-(    One of the 4 metal "blades" that the battery makes contact with is completely broken off.

Does anyone know where I could find a replacement for this?  I don't kjnow what the part is named or else I could probably Google more effectively...

Thanks!!!!  --Chris

I think they only have 3 blades. That's all my 21" push model has and all it ever had.

Argh!  Thanks for the info.  There must be another problem, then.  I swear it had 4 blades just like the charger does.   The battery is 100%, but the mower doesn't power up at all.

It should still be under warranty depending on your date of purchase ,the battery is covered for 3 years while the mower for 5 years

Please note that this is normal and not a production defect. Some of the earlier tools were made with three contacts, while later generations were made with four. Check out a similar discussion on this via the link below. Although this conversation focuses on the blower, the three/ four prong point still applies:

Here's a video on how to connect the pole saw attachment. Please let us know if this helps: https://youtu.be/KB0x9qaLCNU?list=PL82ntYmWALMJgJroK_wYkKhvcKo2gcZpB

Thanks for your reply!  I'll keep investigating, I actually feel better knowing I don't need to track down this weird part.  Hopefully it's something easier to fix!

I forgot to say:  mower won't doesn't power up, but battery is charged (green light on top).

The charger has 4 blades, and I SWEAR the mower had 4 as well.

I'll keep troubleshooting :-/

Thanks guys!!!

The charger does have 4 blades, no doubt.
Mower not powering up is probably from some other reason.
Which model of mower do you have?

The mowers only have 3 blades so the problem is not a missing blade.

Have you verified that the handle clamps are fully engaged and latched in place? That seems to be a common failure mode for these mowers.

The 20" gen 1 only has 4 blades.  If one is missing, it is more likely it dropped into the mower than actually broken off.  The gray tub the battery sits in comes out through the top, and I think you can see the six screws in the picture below.  When you lift it out, you have to disconnect the wire harness which powers the LED lights.  The red/blue/black wires which transfer the power from the battery to the motor are a separate harness.

Even then it depends on the model.  The first two 480CFM units I had from EGO had four blades, the third had only three and it also had a different sticker panel for hi and lo, one like the one the 530 has.  One of the first two 480 units I took apart as it had stopped working and I noticed that one of the three blades was unused.

Agreed. The tools have evolved over time and most have lost the fourth contact as it isn't necessary in the tool/battery interface.

And, that's why it's so critical to post what model of tool one has when looking for help.

And the date of manufacture of that tool.

*********** UPDATE ***************
*********** RESOLVED ***********
The problem was actually related to the handles not quite being locked/clamped in place.

Thanks for your help everyone!   It appears this specific model/generation LM2000-S DOES only have THREE battery TERMINALS inside the mower (see below):

Sorry for the wild goose chase!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Prong broken on battery, 3 months old, how replace?.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled 20" lawn mower battery inserting prongs.

Recently bought the snowblower and 20" lawn mower. When checking to see if they start, I noticed that the lawn mower only had 3 metal prongs that inserted into the battery, where the snowblower had 4 metal prongs. The lawn mower still started, but I just want to know if the lawn mower is supposed to have 4 prongs that enter the battery.

Nothing is missing, this is normal.
