Hello EGO World!!! I understand very little about the concepts but I wanted to ask a question. I happily own the EGO Power Mower and 56v battery system. I notice that you make a vest to hold the battery and a cord to run certain tools. I was wondering could I use this device for let's say powering or "charging" a power scooter? My wife is disabled and I want to take her to Disney. The batteries in the scooters only get about 10 miles so I would have to recharge them sometime during the day. Using the battery would be helpful as the charger can recharge the battery in 30 minutes (more then enough time to wait in the lines). I know the scooter uses 2 12volt batteries and I was thinking of a an dc to ac inverter , to charge the onboard batteries. Would this, could this work???

Hey Steven, interesting idea!  I'm sure it "could" work, but getting it to work and work reliably would take some Engineering.  There have been many people here looking for ways to power non-Ego devices with these incredible batteries, but the reality is they're only designed to work with Ego tools.  Anyone who gets an Ego battery to power something else is on their own and has voided the warranty on the battery.

Just thinking off the top of my head here... what about a solar canopy?  There's a company called Mean Green Mowers that makes battery powered commercial ride-on lawn mowers.  They offer an optional solar canopy that supplies energy to the batteries as well as providing shade to the operator.  Something like this might work rather well with the lower powered motors in a scooter, especially since you're planning to use it outside.  Solar powered 12V battery chargers are relatively common.  Here's a link to the site:

Good luck with your project!  :-)

P.S. This is a public forum, so you may want to keep from putting your email address out there.  I'll ask one of the Admins if they can remove it for you.

Hey, thanks for your reply!!! Yeah, I was pricing an option to add a canopy to her scooter (which they do make by the way) and buying a flat solar panel and strap it to the roof of the canopy. Thus harnessing the sunlight to charge the batteries. I figured asking about something I already owned before investing into spending more money, was my angle. Not that I wanted to risk my warranty of my EGO. It actually may be cheaper just to buy one of those jump starts car battery charger and when the key is off, it is charging the batteries.

Anyways, it was just an idea I had as I surely do NOT want to be pushing that thing in the middle of the day.

Thanks again for the response.

There have been a lot of great ideas offered up on the forum for other ways to use EGO batteries. Yours is another great one and EGO takes all suggestions and will discuss them.
