I just bought a 21 inch self propelled lawn mower and it works great. I am now looking at the snowblower. Can I get the snowblower with only one battery and no charger? I already have a 7.5 Amp hr battery and charger.

Hi Mark,

Ego sells the snowblower as a kit with two 5Ah batteries, and is also planning a bare tool. No other options have been announced.

I personally don't think it will be available as a kit with a single battery, but Ego has indicated there will be "a-la-carte" bundle options available in the near future. They are working out the details with Home Depot as we speak. Perhaps Jennifer can shed some light on those options, but she usually makes the information available to the community as soon as she gets it so I doubt there's any news yet.

You do have the option of using it with a single 7.5Ah battery as well, it just won't operate at 100% power output.

@Mark +1, I really hope Ego offers this combination as well for those of us who've already invested in the 7.5 Ah + mower kit.

Hi Mark, we don't have plans to sell the snow blower with just one battery and no charger. All of our kits will be two batteries and charger included. We will have a bare tool option (no battery and charger included) in the coming weeks.

I've decided that the 5.0Ah package with the rapid charger is the best option for me. I canceled my Zoro order for another 5.0Ah battery since it was backordered anyway, and did some quick napkin math. The snowblower tool-only package will most likely be above $300 because Ego wants to capitalize on the complete package options for obvious revenue reasons. I want matching batteries *and* another rapid charger to go with the one that came with my lawn mower.

Selling my current 5.0Ah and 4.0Ah batteries makes more sense than buying another 5.0Ah and waiting for the bare tool when I can basically get two brand new 5.0Ah batteries and the rapid charger for much less than the cost of two batteries alone. On top of that, most gift card reseller places have pretty high discounts on Home Depot physical cards right now =)

I would agree with you here as well. I posted a question to EGO about a week ago regarding the "rapid charger" for all new EGO equipment, and according to them, only their mowers and snow blowers will get the "rapid charger" in the kit, while all the hand tools get the "standard charger." To that point, I recently bought EGO new backpack blower with a 5.0 Ah battery and got a "standard charger." So in the end, you are getting a "better deal" with the snow blower kit - which includes 2 new 5.0 Ah batteries and a "rapid charger."

+1 for snowblower with 1 battery & no charger. I have the lawn mower and do not want to buy another battery. The pricing makes no sense to buy a separate second battery.

Honestly, im suprised that EGO isnt doing that. Because it makes their whole lineup a kit type system and encourages the purchase of other tools to get the best deal. They need to offer a single 7.5 ah battery kit. Or a coupon for a 7.5ah battery with the purchase of a bare tool model if you have a 7.5 ah battery registered. However, i bet that the blower would work as good off of one 7.5 ah battery, as it would on two 5ah. Unless it only goes full power when it sees 2 batteries.

It would work equally well on a 7.5 and a 5. Both batteries run in parallel, so in that configuration it would be like a single 5P battery pack.

I think people are hung up on having matching batteries for the snowblower. It's not necessary. :-)

I am in the same situation with one 7.5 battery (from the lawn mower). Since it looks like I can use a 7.5 and a 5ah battery in the snow blower, I am thinking it would be good to get the version with two 5ah batteries (it would be nice to have an extra battery for the lawn mower but don't want to pay too much). My question is - if I buy the package with two 5ah batteries, will my 7.5ah battery fit in to the snow blower's battery receptacle?

yes it will. Batteries are usable on all of the ego equipment

Scott, Allen is right, all Ego batteries work with all Ego tools and chargers. And as you mentioned, any combination of one OR two batteries will run the snow blower, but for maximum performance two batteries 4Ah or larger should be used.

I am not sure if I am asking this question in the right forum.
I have the self-propelled mower with the 7.5 ah battery and it works great!

I want to buy the snow blower tool only. There are 7.5 ah batteries available from third parties, I think because they bought other EGO kits and now have a surplus of batteries.

My question is whether or not the battery sold as new from a third party still carries a warranty for EGO? If the battery charges and works out of the original box (as claimed) then all is well. The battery I am looking at has a manufacturing date of Aug 2016.

I dread spending half the money on a battery that won't charge or work from the get go.

I'd give the 1 battery & no charger option for the snowblower some thought. I think a lot of folks may have the mower & charger but do not need 3 batteries But would like a 2nd for the snowblower where the batteries are not going to last as long in the cold. I would buy it if you had it. Right now, i will wait where buying a separate 2nd battery makes no $$ sense.

@Jennifer VandeWater I have a 5.0 AMP and a 2.0AMP battery. Would they be enough to run the snow blower? Or do I need to upgrade the 2.0 AMP to something bigger?

I don't have a huge driveway so I wasn't sure if I need the extra amps.

Yes it will work, but you will not get the "best" performance

Jeff, I'm sure it will work fine. The Workshop Addict video claims only a small difference between using two 5Ah batteries and one 7.5Ah battery. Your 2Ah and 5Ah battery should perform about the same as a single 7.5Ah. :-)
