Leaf Bagging with High Lift Blade on 20" Steel Deck SP Mower

Have had my HL blade for my 20" SP Mower that I bought from MowerMagic a few months ago.  I have loved the way it mulched.

Yesterday, I tried bagging leaves for the first time.  They were fairly thick and my grass was moist, tall, and dense.  See this first picture.  Pretty dense leaves near the house.

I really like how it worked.  I was on level 3, and was doing single passes only with minimal overlap (maybe used 18" of the deck).  Here is what it looked like after a few passes down the middle and edges:

And, a close-up where the leaves were more dense:

Here's the final product:

Overall, I think it did a better job than my Honda Harmony would do.  I really hate raking leaves, and haven't purchased an Ego blower yet.  May not have to!

The only disadvantage I found with this mower vs. my Honda was that this bag is smaller, perhaps 30-40% smaller.  So, I had to empty it more often.  But, with the instant on and no idling, it was easy peasey.

Official Response
Thanks for the report
Great pics to document the fine job the mower did eating up the leaves with the high lift blade.

Mower Magic is in the UK.
20" HL blade is not currently available in the US
Only the 21" HL
why you ask - no one knows

Will the MM lift blade damage the works or void the warranty of my EGO LM2101 mower?

You won't need to go thru MM.  You can get a 21" HL blade thru HD or Amazon in the US.  It is an Ego part and within your warranty.

OK Ego Champions - what kind of leaf lift/bagging can I expect from my 21 inch LM2101 with the original blade?

Thanks - you are all wonderful!

Sorry but - it depends.  There seems to be a wide variety of answers based on grass type, lawn thickness, cutting height, and user expectations and thus can only be answered by using the products.

Personally, on my Illinois bluegrass/rye/fescue not overly thick lawn I find the standard blade good for mulching and the HL blade much better for bagging.

Craig, I think you just exposed the real reason why ego doesn’t sell the 20 inch HL blade in this market... they’d canabalize their leaf blower sales!!! Lol

Great post and great pics, thanks!

When you installed the HL blade from MM did you happen to check the hole sizes?  Exactly the same or slightly different from the blade you removed?  Thanks.

Perfect fit.  Same bolts.
