I have the ego lawn mower, and the first year it worked fine. This year, it keeps shutting off for no reason. How do I find someone to look at it

Good news. Your mower is covered by a 5 year warranty. Battery and charger have 3 year warranties. Give EGO customer service a call and they will help you out. Best to call early in the day to avoid hold times.
They can be reached at 1-855-EGO-5656 (1-855-346-5656) from 8:30AM - 8:00PM EST (Monday - Friday) & 10:00AM - 6:00PM EST (Saturday & Sunday).

Just a quick troubleshooting step, have you double checked that the handle clamps are well inserted? Unclamp them, make sure the handle is fully extended and reclamp them in place.

To add to what Mike said, try pulling the lawnmower backwards instead of pushing it forwards. If it only stops working while pushing it forward and works fine pulling it backwards, there’s a good chance the problem lies with the clamps on the handle.
Thanks, I'm not the original poster, but that was my problem -- mower shutting down and battery appeared to be fine -- green and charged. After reading this thread, I determined the problem to be one of the hand clamps had come undone. I just unclamped the other side, slid the handle down, then back up and clamped both sides. All fixed. Battery is almost 4 years old and going strong. No noticeable degradation. Have been careful to not leave it fully charged or fully depleted between mowings, and I manually run it down to between 30% and 50% (have to guess on that) for storage over the winter, and store inside house.

I too am having the same problem as Susan Hunter. Battery fully charged. Handle fully extended. Battery blinks red/yellow and mower shuts down. Pushing or pulling mower makes no difference. Waiting on a call back from customer service now. Mower and battery bought 4/30/2017.

Red would indicate a low battery.

Orange would indicate an overload condition with the mower.
Are you starting the mower on the driveway ?
Does the blade turn easily by hand (BATTERY REMOVED)
Customer service will take good care of you if none of these trouble shooting ideas work.

Mine was bought 5/2017.  Seems to be a frequent problem with the mower.  The battery is fine

red/yellow blinking is the limit switch for the full handle extension.

This blog was helpful but that wasn't the issue. After trying these great ideas, I cleaned the battery contacts on the mower and fired right up.

After 9 weeks in the shop, I was told the battery wasn't holding a charge (it wasn't even sent with the lawn mower to the RLC with Home Depot).  They replaced the battery, charger and blade and they are sending the mower back to me.  I truly don't think this will fix the problem, and then I will be without a mower even longer.  It is ridiculous that I should have to pay someone to mow my yard when I bought the mower last year!

Susan - 9 weeks is awful and Ego agrees. They have a 4-6 week agreement with HD repair.  They have stated if your Ego tool is in HD repair for 4 weeks you should contact Ego customer service and they will get involved and escalate your case for rapid resolution.  I know this does not help you now, but just wanted you and others to know.

Had you contacted Ego customer service at any point regarding your problem ?

(Also, if HD had my mower for repair and was not going to return it to me in a reasonable time, I would purchase a mower from HD and return it within their 90 day return policy and thus create my own loaner program.)

Is the weather hot?  Ours will not run for long above about 85deg, and then the light goes yellow, and the mower will not restart for about two minutes (I suspect that is a design delay after an over-temperature event).  We are in the south so waiting for a cooler time is not always an option, as the grass keeps growing while waiting.

We tried ice cubes in a ziploc bag in the battery compartment, but it does not help.

This mower is not suitable for everyone's situation - adjust your expectations.

Brian, I believe your mower or battery may have an issue. Please see my response to your other post.
