A lantern that used EGO batteries would be nice for power outages, camping, and to use around the house. Just put in the charged battery and you are ready to go.

This should be part of the "power center".  A lantern could light for days with an EGO battery, maybe weeks if done correctly.

Keep hounding about this idea, it's great.  The squeaky wheel!

Yep, the more we keep asking the better the chances it will become a reality. Always looking for more ways to put batteries to good use.

This should be a relatively cheap product to design and produce that would be highly valued by Ego's customers and is already in high demand. (read: profitable)

We are all here begging you to take our money Ego—your move.

I would like to have a fan for the same uses as describe for this lantern.

Imagine this scenario... After mowing the lawn in the heat of the summer, grab a beer, drop yourself on the front porch with a fan attached to the leftover juice in the battery -- pointing right at your face.

The fan (and lantern) would be great for Florida rent camping.

The lantern idea is fantastic. Any homeowner in a state with hurricane risk would be all over this. It is a constant challenge to make sure you have enough fresh batteries for your flashlights, lanterns etc. Knowing that you always have at least one (if not several) EGO batteries fully charged during a hurricane would become a major bonus and easily drive the sales. I could imagine several models: Typical lantern, a tall floor lamp style with up light / down light / both options, a table top with adjustable (directional) reading lights, etc. In fact EGO could create an entire emergency preparedness product line including a charging station for cell phones, radio (with the emergency bands) etc.

If you have ever had to prepare for and live through a hurricane or other severe storms, you will understand the value of available "power". This seems like a no-brainer for EGO.

Plus Ego's blowers and chainsaws are such great tools for storm cleanup. And gas can be hard/impossible to come by for days after a hurricane. Ego really could corner a whole new market just by adding a light/fan/power adapter.

Just a power adapter will cover it all. Im ordering an inverter and battery monitor to build one.

And a 60v inverter. Havent picked one out yet.

The ebay item has a low voltage shutoff so a relay would be needed. But pretty simple to make.

I know just enough to get myself in trouble trying to build my own, but if Ego doesn't announce one soon I would buy a schematic and list of suggested components from you. What do you think the total cost would be?

I see the controller you linked to is currently buy 2 get 1 free... group buy?
