After doing way too much research and hands on and YouTube's. This is what I came to. There is no perfect set of lawn tools, but some manufacturers get closer than others. To me the warranty service, if I should need it is number one. The best warranty is where you bring it back to place of purchase for exchange or refund. As far as I can tell only Lowe's offers that on their Kobalt line. Five years on the tool and 3 years on the battery and charger. Number two would be how does the lawn tool work for you. Is it for you or not. Number three the price of the items. Most Kobalt lawn tools are about 150 US and include a 2 amp battery and charger. Their mower is on sale for 349 US and includes 2 batts, a 2 amp and a 4 amp with charger. For what your paying the tools are almost free. The quality is not the best by far but the tools meet my needs so far. I have the mower and the weed whacker and the hedge trimmer. I did look at Ego and Echo as well. Price wise both are a little to high for me. Also the full line that they both offer does not really meet my needs. And they both have many negative comments and reviews on their weed whackers. Anyway neither meets my point number one, return to store for replacement or refund. Just my 2 cents for whatever its worth.

I don't think William is a "Plant", but someone who may like EGO more than the Kobalt, but the current tool lineup and service arrangement didn't meet his needs or they are out of his price range. They are premium tools.
About the return/replace, Home Depot has a 90 day return/replace policy. I think that is about as good as any company offers. Correct me if i'm wrong?

The Kobalt mower has what Lowes calls a "5-year hassle-free warranty". According to the terms of the warranty, if you believe the mower is defective at any time during the 5-year warranty period, "..simply return (it) along with proof of purchase to the place of purchase for a free replacement or refund..". That doesn't include the blades or grass bag, normal wear and tear damage, abuse, etc. Basically, if it's an honest-to-goodness defect, you're covered.
In essence that is like Home Depot's 90-day return policy, but for 5 years. While EGO does have a 5 year warranty, once you go past Home Depot's 90 day period (assuming that's where you purchased it) you have to go through the manufacturer, are likely receiving a refurbished replacement, etc.
I love my EGO mower but I'd be lying if I didn't admit the idea of getting a brand new replacement (at the place of purchase, no less) for a defect failure within the first 5 year period wasn't awesome. I'm sure if EGO had that policy we'd be shouting it from the lawns. :)
That said, while the Kobalt mower does come with two batteries (it's a dual-battery system where one takes over after the charge of the other is depleted), *combined* they provide a 45 minute run time, which is roughly the same as the EGO mower's single 4 amp battery. And the EGO battery recharges more quickly to boot.

Now now Ken....I am not a plant. .....not paid by anyone....I would love to own all Ego....vastly superior battery technology.... I viewed the YouTube Comparison on Ego versus Echo batts. Basically you pay your money and take your chances. My only observation was the warranty fine print.

Why am I posting this on Ego? I love the Ego concept. I love their tech. Would I buy sure, if they met my return to store if you got a problem warranty. In a new York minute.
